There are growing calls for companies based in the UK to be held to account for human rights abuses in their global supply chains.

  1. the development of business and human rights laws;
  2. the deficiencies of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015;
  3. developments at common law to hold UK parent companies to account for the actions of their overseas subsidiaries;
  4. the need for a Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) law with liability for harm, requiring companies to identify, prevent and mitigate human rights abuses in their supply chains; and
