Matthew Turner is Chair and Executive Director of the Labour Campaign for Human Rights. He is a practising barrister in London and has a broad common law practice, including personal injury, clinical negligence and property damage.
He previously worked as a solicitor specialising in commercial disputes, but has extensive experience of public interest and human rights work. Having spent a year in Texas defending death row inmates, he has a particular interest in the rights to life and to a fair trial, as well as international human rights. Matthew has also worked at Liberty and volunteered for a wide range of charities, including Amicus, Fair Trials International, Age Concern Birmingham, Working Chance, and Together for Short Lives.
He studied law at the University of Nottingham and the University of Texas at Austin.
